Education Initiatives Education InitiativesThe National Center for PTSD's educational initiatives aim to assimilate information and coordinate communication among top scientists in the field of PTSD, and to effectively disseminate that information to those who can put the information to use: clinicians, policymakers, educators, Veterans, trauma survivors, and their families. The professionals who are involved in education efforts are also in a prime position to gather feedback from clinicians in the field that can inform future research efforts. The major focus of the National Center's education activities has always been America's Veterans and Active Duty military personnel. The close relationships between the Center's professionals and their counterparts in other VA services and the Department of Defense have been of enormous benefit to those critical populations. Over the years, though, it has become clear that the educational materials and training programs produced by the National Center can also be of help to others who have experienced traumatic stress: disaster survivors, crime victims, firefighters, and others who have been exposed to any traumatic event. |
