Description

Extent to which an individual perceived assistance and encouragement in the war zone from fellow unit members (i.e., felt a sense of closeness and camaraderie with peers in the unit) and unit leaders (i.e., felt appreciated by superiors and believed that they were interested in one’s personal welfare).

Sample Items

  • My fellow unit members appreciated my efforts.
  • Members of my unit were interested in my well-being.
  • I could go to unit leaders for help if I had a problem or concern.

Response Format

5-point Likert (1 = Strongly disagree; 5 = Strongly agree)

Measure availability: Information on measures is available to everyone. However, the assessment tools themselves can only be distributed to qualified mental health professionals and researchers. We maintain measures developed by affiliated staff of the National Center for PTSD.
