PTSD 101 Presenter: Julia M. Whealin, PhD PTSD 101 Presenter: Julia M. Whealin, PhDNational Center for PTSD Dr. Whealin is a Research Health Scientist at the National Center for PTSD Pacific Islands Division. Her main role at the Center is oversight of education activities, which includes policy formation, designing/implementing programmatic initiatives, and directing a multi-disciplinary training program. Dr. Whealin consults various government organizations, and has presented and published internationally. Her clinical and research interests include interpersonal victimization, risk and resiliency, prevention/early intervention, and cross-cultural treatment for underserved populations. One recent programmatic initiative is an intervention that enables health care organizations to assess and promote culturally appropriate care. During the past seven years she has collaborated with the Department of Defense in the design and implementation of programs addressing resilience to and prevention of PTSD among war returnees. Dr. Whealin received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia, and holds an Adjunct Assistant Professorship at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
