NCPTSD Measures: Translations

The National Center for PTSD staff have edited and confirmed the translation of a number of our measures into Spanish. These assessments have not been validated in published research. As such, use of the translated measures requires acknowledgement of this limitation.

Available translations:

  • Life Events Checklist for DSM-5 (LEC-5): Extended verion available in Spanish
  • Primary Care PTSD Screen for DSM-5 (PC-PTSD-5): Available in Spanish
  • PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5): Standard version available in Spanish

General information about each measure can be found on respective pages for each assessment: LEC-5; PC-PTSD-5; and PCL-5.

Resources to Search for Additional Translations

Other than the Spanish translations listed above, there are no official translations for any of the National Center for PTSD assessment measures. The following resources may be helpful to search for additional translations:

  • PTSDpubs: Our literature database offers a “Test and Measure” search option
  • PubMed: The National Library of Medicine offers an “Advanced” search for a test or measure name and language.
  • APA PsycTests®:Link will take you outside the VA website. VA is not responsible for the content of the linked site. The American Psychological Association maintains a repository of psychological tests and measures used for research, including translations.
