Biography

Alexandra Macdonald, PhD is a clinical research psychologist at the Women's Health Sciences Division, National Center for PTSD, Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA, and an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Bovin received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University in 2008.

Dr. Macdonald's research interests include:

  • Studying the relationship between PTSD and couple/family functioning in Veterans and active duty service members
  • Developing, testing, and disseminating efficacious cognitive behavioral conjoint therapies to treat PTSD
  • Implementing efficacious interventions for PTSD within the VA and DoD systems
  • Identifying risk and resilience factors for PTSD
