Biography
Dr. Niles is a Staff Psychologist at the Behavioral Sciences Division of the National Center for PTSD at VABHS and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Niles conducts workshops on group treatments for PTSD. Her research examines psychological symptoms and health habits in both medical and psychiatric populations and investigates the use of Complementary and Alternative interventions to address symptoms of post-deployment distress.
She conducted an intervention outcome study evaluating the effects of mindfulness on symptoms of PTSD in combat veterans and is currently examining Tai Chi as an intervention to address both physical and psychological post-deployment ailments in veterans. She collaborates with colleagues from the Behavioral Medicine service and has served as a co-investigator for studies promoting physical activity (yoga, walking) in veteran populations.
She has been a member of the PTSD clinical team at VA Boston for over 20 years and has been involved with supervision and training of pre- and post-doctoral trainees.
