How PTSD affects the people you love

PTSD can hurt the relationships that are the most important.

Living with someone who is easily startled, has nightmares and avoids social situations can take a toll on the most caring family and the closest relationships.

Without treatment, PTSD can result in marital problems, behavioral problems in children, depression, outbursts of anger, physical violence, substance abuse and sometimes thoughts of hurting oneself.

With treatment, you’ll be able to better understand and manage your symptoms. You’ll learn how to care for yourself and for the people you love.
