New Mexico VA Health Care System

Diane T. Castillo

Dr. Castillo received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1985 and her BS from the University of New Mexico in 1979.

Dr. Castillo is presently the Coordinator, Women's Stress Disorder Treatment Team and has directed the women's program for the past 10 years at the New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS), in Albuquerque, NM. She was the Coordinator of the PTSD program for 8 years, treating male Veterans with PTSD. Dr. Castillo has been an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of New Mexico since 1989 and was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin from 1985 to 1987.

Dr. Castillo's areas of clinical expertise are in the assessment and treatment of PTSD, particularly in women and Hispanic Veterans, cross-cultural counseling, and treatment of anger in PTSD.
