  • VA Information Resource Center (VIReC)
    VA researchers will be interested to learn about VIReC, a group that develops & disseminates knowledge about useful research databases on trauma and other VIReC products & services. VIReC staff include database & informatics experts and methodologists.
  • Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (USUHS)*
    The Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress conducts research, education, consultation and training on preparing for and responding to the psychological effects and health consequences of traumatic events.
  • David Baldwin's Trauma Information Pages*
    Research-related trauma resources on the Internet that can be read, joined or searched: on-line databases, a workshop calendar, professional organizations, email discussion lists, and information about effective trauma treatment approaches.
  • The Institute of Medicine: Veterans*
    The IOM website includes information about a variety of military-related health issues. The Website has separate sections for health care issues affecting major military conflicts.
  • International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS)*
    The ISTSS is a trauma organization dedicated to trauma treatment, education, research, clinical strategies, public policy concerns and theoretical formulations about trauma in the United States and around the world.
  • Military Family Research Institute: Deployment Support Resources*
    MFRI provides a special collection of resources focusing on eployment issues. Several of our resources focus specifically on deployment and how it affects military families. Other resources are targeted more toward helping children deal with war,rather than deployment.
  • MIRECCs
    MIRECCs are VA Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Centers established by Congress to investigate the causes of mental illness, and to evaluate both established and new treatments with the goal of bringing best practices in mental health care into practice.
  • National Child Traumatic Stress Network*
    The NCTSN was established to improve access to care, treatment, and services for children and adolescents exposed to traumatic events and to encourage and promote collaboration between service providers in the field.
  • National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
    The NIMH is the lead Federal agency for research on mental and behavioral disorders. Their mission is to reduce the burden of mental illness and behavioral disorders through research on mind, brain, and behavior.
