When I came out the Navy,

I had PTSD then,

I just wasn't aware of it.

And a lot of my behavior
patterns were tall tale signs

of post-traumatic stress disorder.

I treated my family very
differently than I normally would

and I think that from my mother especially

was the major indicator
because the woman that went in,

the young girl that went into the military

was not the same person that came out.

And I mean, in my culture,

we don't disrespect our parents.

We don't yell at them.

We don't curse at them.

That is not ingrained in us.

And the first time I had that outburst

where I said the most
nastiest things to my mother.

I knew then, I knew then there
was something really wrong

and I had to deal with it

cause they didn't deserve that.
