Biography

Dr. Cohen is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and Staff Physician at the San Francisco VA Medical Center where she works as a primary care provider in the Integrated Care Clinic for returning veterans.

Dr. Cohen completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship and Master's Degree in Clinical Research at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Cohen's clinical research program is designed to improve the health and quality of life of patients with posttraumatic stress disorder. She is particularly interested in how PTSD impacts chronic illness and in models to improve integration of mental health and primary care.

As Principal Investigator of the Mind Your Heart Study, a large prospective cohort study of Veterans with and without PTSD, Dr. Cohen is exploring biological, behavioral, and psychosocial factors that increase chronic disease risk in patients with PTSD.
