Matthew Jeffreys, MD

Biography

Dr. Matthew Jeffreys retired from VA in September 2021. Prior to retiring, he provided telepsychiatry services for the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System and was a Professor of Clinical of Psychiatry at UT Health in San Antonio, Texas. He served as Medical Director for the Posttraumatic Stress Disorders Clinical Team (PCT) for the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System (STVHCS) from 1994-2013.

Dr. Jeffreys served as a mentor through the National Center for PTSD Mentoring Program from 2008-2021 and served as a member of the working group revising the VA/DoD PTSD Clinical Practice Guideline from 2016-2017. He is the author of numerous publications related to PTSD and "A Clinician's Guide to Medications for PTSD" on the National Center for PTSD's website.
