Biography
Steven R. Thorp, PhD, ABPP, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and Program Director of the Posttraumatic Stress Disorders Clinical Team at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. He is also the Co-Director of the Psychotherapy Unit in the Center of Excellence for Stress and Mental Health.
He earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno and completed postdoctoral research fellowships in geriatric psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center and at UCSD.
Dr. Thorp conducts research on interventions for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including using technology to monitor and ameliorate PTSD symptoms. He also studies different psychotherapies for older combat veterans with PTSD, and he is investigating the role of cognitive functioning on clinical outcomes for Veterans with PTSD.
